Review:Delivered in good time and in perfect condition. There's only so much you can say about an integrated cooker hood - it arrives as a grey metal box and is distinctly unattractive until you've screwed your decorative door front to it, so it's difficult to rate it on style! Once fitted though, it looks smart and does exactly what it says on the tin. In operation it is relatively quiet, and the single built-in light provided much more light than I expected. 3 extraction fan settings. The highest setting is quite noisy, but I've never known a hood of this type/price to be any different. Pleased to see that it included a proper charcoal filter which you will need to use it in interior recirculation mode. Quite a few other hoods don't (assuming you're going to extract to outdoors), which results in hidden cost of £20. The hood is supplied with 3 paper drilling templates for wall and decorative panel fixing. One of the templates was missing (from a sealed bag - Hotpoint's mistake, not AppliancePlanet). I called Hotpoint for a replacement but they insisted they could only send a complete new fixing kit. So much for saving the planet eh? I declined and just got on with it without the template. Like most integrated hoods, although reasonably light, it's a juggling act to fit. The wall hangers have approximately 1" of vertical and horizontal adjustment which is good if your holes aren't spot-on. The lateral fixing holes (to side cupboards) are completely obscured when the hood is closed, which can make final alignment a bit tricky. My tip is to add small chunks of wood into the corners of the lower gap-filling piece before sliding it upwards into place - that way you dont rely on the tiny underside screws to keep it plumb while finishing the lateral fixing. The HTN41 instructions are missing from Hotpoint's website. (Presumably fallen behind the same desk as my missing template!), but you can download the instructions for the almost identical HTN40 from the following link. Very useful to get an idea of fitting before you buy: http://imagebank.indesitcompany.co.uk/brochures_online/pdf/Hotpoint/Cooking/HTN40.pdf The flex supplied is approx. 1 metre long which is a bit stingey. I've had to extend it by about 300mm to reach the FCU. The quality of the switches seems good - robust enough to last. Changing the grease filters and light bulb couldn't be easier.
